Plant & Equipment Valuation
Assess equipment value in the context of its use, condition and economic life.
Discuss Plant & Equipment Valuation
Equipment of similar age can have different values because of capacity, utilisation, maintenance and technological change. The assessment also needs to consider whether assets are valued in continued use or under another agreed premise.
MILES values heavy machinery, production equipment, furniture and fixtures, motor vehicles and vessels for transactions, financial reporting and internal asset management purposes.
When should you speak with us?

How we help
Set the valuation boundaries
Agree the asset list, purpose, date and premise, including how installation and supporting infrastructure will be treated.
Review technical and operating information
Analyse specifications, age, capacity, maintenance and utilisation records, with inspection arrangements suited to the project.
Assess value and obsolescence
Consider market and cost evidence, physical deterioration and relevant functional or economic obsolescence using appropriate methods.
Prepare the asset analysis
Present values and supporting assumptions with a clear connection to the agreed asset register and explain information limitations.
What information is typically required?
- Fixed asset register with identification numbers, dates and costs
- Manufacturer, model, capacity and technical specifications
- Maintenance, utilisation and condition records
- Asset locations, photographs and installation details
The information request will be tailored to the purpose and scope. If your records are incomplete, we can first discuss preparation priorities.
Frequently asked questions
Can net book value be used as market value?
Net book value follows accounting depreciation and may differ from value under the agreed valuation basis. Condition, usefulness and market evidence need separate consideration.
Should land and buildings be included in the equipment list?
We agree the boundaries at scoping. Property can be assessed alongside equipment, with clear treatment of buildings, fixtures and installed plant to avoid overlap.
